Exhibition Opening: “Arthur Szyk, Man of Dialogue”

The exhibition “Arthur Szyk, Man of Dialogue” was organized by the Mark Edelman Center for Dialogue in Lodz, Poland. It has been displayed in cities around the world. We are proud to be hosting the exhibition on the last stop of its Israeli tour at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem in cooperation with the Polish Institute in Israel.

The exhibition presents an abundance of works by the renowned artist Arthur Szyk, depicting his affinity to the Zionist movement and the Jewish people.

Szyk, born in Lodz in 1894, worked mainly in Poland and the United States. His paintings are full of patriotic and Jewish motifs and deal extensively with his struggle against antisemitism in general and Nazism in particular, his support for the civil rights movement in the United States, and his closeness to the Revisionist movement. Szyk passed away in 1951 in the US.

The opening evening will feature Mr. Irvin Ungar, a world-renowned expert on Szyk’s work. Mr. Ungar will give his deeply researched insights into the life and work of Arthur Szyk, highlighting the many themes in Szyk’s art.

Exhibition curator: Ms. Joanna Podolska.
